Pitch & Holler Choir

Join this exciting new choir which is for people who can sing in tune and time and hold a harmony with others. It’s great if you have some previous choir experience, but not essential. (Singing experience comes in many forms). This is for intermediate level singers and more advanced singers, who will have the opportunity to perform solos in the set, when we do a local performance, which is currently 3/4 times a year.

Learn in a fun, supportive environment. You will be guided through good vocal technique in bite size chunks in each session whilst singing an eclectic mix of world, soul, latin, American and English folk. Ella’s playful arrangements of choice material and original compositions being taught in an upbeat joyful way is a combination not to be missed!

The Choir

The choir will learn the songs by ear, so no need to read music.
Ella will be providing the foundations of good vocal technique through the months and years to help each singer explore and develop their abilities.
Above all it will be full of joy in the process of teaching the group hand picked eclectic range of songs. Some of the pieces will have been composed by Ella, so there will be some exciting new original pieces alongside some choice classics!

You will be singing in a supportive and fun environment to help you flourish and develop your singing and confidence, whilst learning a really great broad style range of songs!

Payment

Payment is by a half term block at the start of that series of sessions.
A seven week block is £49
An eight week block is £64. (This works out at £7 a session).
You can also try it out for a drop in rate of £8 for up to three times to see if you want to join.

Once you make contact with Ella you’ll be sent up to date information about the length and price of the current term or upcoming term.

Having a background in music including singing, I was working as a vocalist gigging in a Latin and world music band. I was straining my voice. I joined a focussed choir, Vox led by Ella, and learned so many aspects of controlling and channeling my voice I was never aware of before.

I have been attending the Pitch and Holler choir, run by Ella Turk-Richards, for 18 months. I came into it as a complete novice as did most of the choir, and have learnt enormously from Ella’s knowledge and experience to the extent that the public performances are no longer a scary experience! Ella teaches in a fun and engaging way which keeps it interesting when we’re going over material multiple times. She’s given us numerous bits of technical and practical advice which have helped no end.

Ella’s particularly good at judging who’s coping and who’s struggling and fitting the pace of learning round that, working out who needs more help.
